A green walk
I had a lovely walk in the woods today with Xena, everything is so green at the moment. It's important to have joy snacks during a day, and I find mine on my walks - a pretty butterfly flitting about, seeing a woodpecker tapping away in a tree, and the vibrant greens of summer. It was sunny and warm in the sunshine but in the shade the wind was quite cool.
Gavin had some work zoom calls today, it keeps him motivated and his mind off other things.
I took him to the pharmacy to collect his antibiotics for the wound, and made sure to also pick up some probiotics as he suffered from all the antibiotics he had in hospital. We then went to our local cafe for a flat white, his first coffee since before he got ill.
We have been spoilt by friends with flowers and other gifts, Gavin got some delicious Biscuiteer biscuits and today we received a lovely Fortnum and Mason hamper containing cheeses, biscuits, a pork pie, smoked salmon and piccalilli - Gavin got excited to see the piccalilli as it is years since he last ate that. Fun that he can eat these things now.
I went to get a few groceries and met a friend for coffee in the village. She spoilt me with flowers and chocolate, and then later another friend came to visit, bringing some delicious homemade brownies plus some other gifts - the brownies were kept well away from Xena! We had a good chat and spoke about how things will be now going forward, Gavin and I try to remain positive and hopefully will deal with things as they arise.
As Gavin can eat most things now I can expand the dinner menu, so tonight it is a prawn and polenta dish and then some lazy TV watching.
