Ennerdale

Back to glorious Ennerdale to bag two more Wainwrights - Great Bourne and Starling Dodd. A bit of a slog up the Bourne but worth the effort with far reaching views of Ennerdale, its surrounding mountains and beyond to the Isles of Man.

These fells have it all, the majestic mountains, the coast and the sea. And isn’t Ireland beyond that?

Brilliant weather again, we’ve been spoilt these past 12 days. Strong sunshine, hot in the valley for the long walk along Ennerdale back to the car. Windy on the tops with a bite to it too. Get into shelter and it was very pleasant. This is taken from where we stopped for lunch - with Crag Fell, our first fell this week across the water.

The Kirkstile Inn exerted it magnetic force at the end of the walk. Can there be a better located Inn with better beer?

Washed snd brushed up, ready for dinner but reluctant to travel south tomorrow. At least we know we will be back on 26th May. That’s a novel thought!
