DYING FALL

I blipped some of our inherited ceanothus a few days ago. It's growing in a very restricted raised bed and has large sections which are dead, including most of the underside. It's leaning over alarmingly and I think this wonderful show is probably what happens when it's about to die. We will be having it taken out in about six weeks (nothing nesting in it) and I'll find a replacement that we can put in a more sensible place. I've already started a pyracantha along the wall behind it, which should be much better suited to that position.
