INSECT AFTERNOON
It was a four-layers-and-a-big-coat day today until the sun came out mid-afternoon and the wind dropped a little. However, I caught sight of my first four-spot chaser dragonfly in the distance, as well as some Wall Brown butterflies (extra) and blue damselflies. The dragonfly looks as though it's already been in the wars - or been attacked by a predator - missing half a wing.
I learned a new word when I was looking up the pale damselfly in the second extra. It's a teneral blue-tailed damselfly, which means that it's newly emerged and hasn't attained its blueness yet.
