Almost there...
I've been working on this art journal spread here and there, a bit at a time. I posted a blip on the 9th showing my preparation to carve the portrait block. That's was the day before my mom fell and fractured her femur.
It's been helpful to have this page to work on during this sometimes stressful time. I'd set an intention - my 'word' for 2025, to spend a half hour working on the page before going to visit my mom, for example. That's how I got to the point where the page almost is done!
In the photo you can see the self-portrait I carved top right. Also a few smaller carved blocks that I used to make a background with watercolor crayons, by drawing on the block and then spritzing with water before stamping.
I'm just making some last minute decisions about placement and deciding if I want to add anything or take away something. Then I'll glue everything down! I'm following an online lesson from Wanderlust 2025, a year long art journaling course presented by Everything Art UK. I've been enjoying learning some new approaches and techniques.
