A good buy

I went over to Mum’s for lunch and talked again as we sat soft after lunch about what a good buy the house was.   They bought it when they were nearly 80 and we worried it was too much to take on and do up but it’s been amazing.  It’s south facing so quite sunny in the afternoon but Mum can sit by the open door way in comfort and shade and enjoy the garden and the hill behind.

V was up in London with a friend to go to a service in Westminster Abbey to celebrate 300 years of the Order of the Bath.  So my WhatsApp was full of pictures of people in robes in the Abbey and in the garden for the reception.

Started the day with a longish walk after 9am which meant I met so many people from the area and had to stop and talk FIVE times.  The canopy is growing over and firming up so the flowers are nearly over, just the foxgloves to come at the edges of the wood.

Spent the rest of the day mainly reading and doing emails, finally ending up with an ice-cream in the hammock before cooking supper of lamb chops and feta and cucumber.  Might as well behave as if we are in high summer whilst we can.  Rory sent pictures of endless rain in Guadeloupe where he’s filming.
