Button Pushing For A Cosmonaut Candle
Today started off with a longer run than usual down to the village and halfway around our local recreation ground pond - and all before 7 a.m to avoid the rush hour traffic and the forecast temperature later in the day - rather remarkably predicted to reach 27 C for the first day of May!
When we got back we watched another You Tube Paulie B Walkie Talkie video as he accompanied the photographer Diana Caulte around the streets of New York. She likes to describe her work as "street photography with soul" - her images really did live up to that mission statement and she seems like such a lovely person too.
I then made an attempt to get a bit more of a grip on our unruly garden (which appears to be my sole responsibility, apart from occasional hacking and slashing interventions from another family member which only seems to happen when they're bored) before I headed out with my brother to vote in our local election - we were both determined to still vote but it looks like the utterly dire prospect of our local council becoming Reform controlled is very much on the political agenda.
Once we had done our electoral duty we frequented our local cafe, Base Camp, for a cappuccino and a sausage roll before venturing back to the shops to purchase a rather eclectic mix of washing powder, cheese and onion share and tear bread, toothpaste and some beers.
After all that early activity we felt we deserved some liquid refreshment and returned to The Red Bull at Eccles where we appeared to be the only customers but still managed to have a quick chat with the chef, who was catching some sun during a break, about the glorious weather and how he was sure it wouldn't last until his next day off on his birthday in a couple of days time.
Once we got back we were determined to continue enjoying the sunshine so sat at the top of the garden for a book reading session - we even got the garden parasol out for the first time this year!
When it got to later in the day I'd almost completely forgotten to get my image until I came across this wax based cosmonaut (we really do have a lot of random stuff in our house!) and plonked the little fella in front of our stereo and it just seemed to push my blip buttons! :-)
