Benson the Labrador enjoys a dip in the drizzle of the rolling hills behind Largs. I've often looked at these hills from the Cumbrae shore, wondered what they were like. Now I know - they're lovely, smoothly glaciated with deeply incised burns and brown pools.

Sadly, the word is that a large area of forestry is planned for the area, with the usual enticements of jobs and access for walkers and cyclists. I'm glad I had a chance to see it unspoiled - it's not a good thought,
