Another fuzzy bird...

..sorry about the lack of focus..but I was desperate. I don't know how I got through an entire day and by dusk had not yet taken a single photo - so it was emergency time! And here he is..a lovely cardinal very high up in a tree, behind branches  in the dying of the light...and out of focus. Oh well..

The main event of the day was capturing Maggie, stuffing her into her carrying case and getting her off to the vet for her monthly arthritis needle. My good friend Elaine came over to help, as it takes a team effort. Herding cats is not something just anyone can do, and Elaine is an expert herder to be called upon in time of need.

Maggie has recuperated quite nicely from her ordeal.

Shawn my gardening helper arrived to mow the lawn today and we had a good chat about what needs to be done next out back. My "garden" is a hodge-podge of plants; if a plant grew out there, it stayed..and it usually multiplied; hence, tall things that should be at the back are wherever they chose to be..like out front, hiding shorter ones behind them. I have often had to go in search of lilies I knew were in there somewhere..and yes, there they were..and blooming quite nicely, out of sight. So we have the task ahead of moving plants and also planting new ones to give some order to the chaos.

I am reasonably OK with chaos, but Shawn is not. He likes order. His actual gardening job is looking after an estate property in the city with a very formal look -  open lawns, boxwood hedges around beds full of white flowers, walls of hydrangeas - white. Shawn likes white. His own garden has only white flowers. I can live with more white, but not at the expense of colour.. and I am not into "formal", but I admit that am looking forward to seeing some structure emerge from that chaos.

This is going to be an exciting project for me. I really love my garden with its birds and critters and if I did not have someone like Shawn, I would not be able to maintain it and would probably have to move....and that is NOT in the plan!
