The Mayfair in Stillorgan
on a beautiful day.
It’s a great occasion with the book stall, bric a brac, jewellery, housewares, clothes, plants, preserves, music (an open mic for new, young musicians/singers), tombola, teas and cakes (oh Lordy them cakes), bbq, candy floss, accessories, shoes, haberdashery (one of my favourite words) etc
Main blip is sweet lamp but I hesitated. And remember the adage …. He who hesitates is lost. So I said to the perfectly nice man behind the counter ‘How much is this please?” …. “It’s 17 euro”. Me (learnt this from my mammy) “but I really don’t need a lamp, however I’ll give you 10 euro for it”. He looks askance (maybe he learnt that from his father). I smiled sweetly (it’s a trick Brian). 10. Sez I. Long pause. Okay 10, Brian acquiesces . So 10 it was and it’s gorgeous. I love it. When it comes to bargaining, you gotta show no mercy.
I also bought books for my grandchildren; a fold up army bed in a green hold-all for 5 and shelving for greenhouse as I am now a card carrying gardener.
Second extra is book stall; third is one of the beautiful books I bought and third extra is beach at 8am this morning. I never want this weather to end. It’s wonderful
I’m watching a good fillum this evening and putting my feet up
Hope you are all grabbing some bargains this weekend and enjoying some delicious food
