First day out

This little chap was, I think on his first outing on his own after leaving the nest.  I spotted him standing looking a little bemused behind Buddha and he soon went and hid under the acer next to the statue.  He was clearly looking for his dad and spent quite a bit of time in the shelter before hopping up onto Buddha's lap and calling out.

I suspect the father was watching him all the time.  After about ten minutes the youngster gave a delighted squawk and flew across to one of the flower beds where Dad had arrived to give him his first lesson in digging for bugs.

He's quickly learned what to do and has been back on his own a couple of times during the day.  I hope he will become a regular visitor.

I had to take the shots through the kitchen window to avoid scaring him off so they aren't great.  The main one is of him standing on Buddha's lap and I've added an extra of him calling out for his dad.
