Black Beauty……two editions!

A busy day…this morning I did a quick bike ride to Petersham and Ham and then went to the allotment to plant some climbing bean seedlings.

I collected my granddaughter and we went to buy food for a barbecue which we had later while watching the cup final football match. She brought the book she was reading…Black Beauty which she got from a charity shop. At home I found my old one which I was given for a Christmas present when I was nearly 7. The first edition was written in 1947 and so many editions published since. It is the only book written by Anna Sewell and I was interested to read she had an accident  when she was 14, had to use crutches and was often taken about in a horse drawn carriage so she loved horses and subsequently wrote the book.
