Over The Bridge

Wee trip to Glenrothes this afternoon. Earlier United ended the season on a high, coming back from a goal down to beat Aberdeen 2-1 at Tannadice and sneak fourth place on goal difference. It hadn’t been the best of post-split fixtures, losing the first four, but a win in the game that mattered most was enough. Although when we were losing and St Mirren were winning at Celtic Park we had slipped to sixth and out of the European qualification places altogether. Later on watched Palace grind out/defend valiantly a 1-0 in the FA Cup Final against Man City. Palace’s first ever major trophy and they too will be in European competition next season (for the first time). Try telling those Palace fans at Wembley that the FA Cup has lost its magic! Good to see a different team winning a major trophy and how desperately we could do with Aberdeen winning the Scottish Cup next week. But I can’t see it happening. Celtic’s wage bill is more than four times Aberdeen’s, while City’s is a little over three times Palace’s. To my mind that means that Aberdeen winning next week would be a bigger shock than Palace’s win today.
