Apples and Oranges

By Anitsirk

Things happened today (which is now yesterday since this is a back blip).
My phone is old and I need to recharge the battery every night. That's not the only problem, so I've been contemplating getting a new one, for several months now. Since I don't have the economy to buy one 'just like that', I need to have one with a new subscription, since the company I have my subscription at now doesn't have those kinds of 'new (or used) phone with this or that kind of subscription'. So, I knew I needed to change company and I have had one (sub) with one of the larger companies before, so I checked there and decided on a used (but good condition) phone with a subscription, but keep my old number. This would be much more expensive than what I pay monthly now, but I knew that. I also knew I had to 'bind' myself to that company for at least 2 years before I could go back to the company I have now, because of subscription deals.
I was about to do the buy, when I thought 'Why don't I just check my company and see... just to be sure...' and I'm so happy I did! Not only could I buy a used one (in premium condition) from a company this phone company works with, I could choose a payment plan that not only made the monthly payment cheeper (even with my current phone subscription), but I'm done in 1 year and will pay 1/3 of the amount (which includes a phone case too) I'd payed for phone and subscription at the other company... and I'm going to get a green iPhone 12. :) I felt I dodged a bullet and was a bit giddy afterwards! No need to 'bind' myself to another company, no need to change company and I'm keeping the fabulous subscription I have now with free calls, texts and a surf pot that just grows. :)

In the afternoon I continued watching Andor and, wow! That Star Wars series is really fabulous! I'm a big fan of lightsabers and Jedi, but following Cassian and the rest in what happens before Rogue One has been so intriguing and such a great show! And with Stellan Skarsgård too. :)
Then the doorbell rang, and I'm not a fan of being disturbed on a Saturday evening (or being disturbed by this at all...), but it was persistent so finally I went to open. It was my next door neighbour.
Thing is that a while back, he said 6 month so I'll go with that (but I think it was further back...), his smoke alarm started sounding. I was on my way to the store and heard beeping. I wasn't sure what it was so I went and did my shopping, while thinking of what it could be. Came back and heard it still, so I started to listen more closely and heard it come from his apartment. I didn't see smoke or feel heat, but I wanted to notify him in some way. He works at the bus company as a teacher (I heard that from my old neighbour, who's a bus driver), so I went to the bus at the bus stop, told the driver what was going on and if he could reach my neighbour in some way. He said he would do his best and I left it with him. It wasn't a fire, it was a smoke alarm malfunction. When I met him (neighbour)  outside I said something about exchanging phone numbers just incase something happens. I'd done that with my old (and very nice) neighbour.
I met him at the bus stop at one time and we chatted a bit. There was a driver who had a teacher with him coming in the bus, and I had a bad experience of that so I complained a bit and said Oh, no... I'll be late for work. He was a bit offended and said something. Then I remembered that he was teaching them... ooops!
Next time I met him was also at the bus stop, but I was passing I think and he wasn't being neighbourly at all, so I thought I'd leave this all together.
So, I was very surprise to see him outside my door, explaining that he'd thought about my suggestion to exchange numbers and it being a good idea, and I got all of his contact information. We talked for a little bit, he asked what I was doing and I told him about Andor. So we talked a little bit about tv shows. His phone started ringing so I thought he'd go away and leave me alone... but no. He asked if he could invite me for a glas of wine and my face showed what I thought about that idea. He said something about me watching Andor was busy and I really didn't want to have a glas of wine with him, but I'm polite so I said 'rein check?' Yes, that was totally fine and we said good bye. I though an invite for tea or coffee outside on his patio would be a more suitable way to get to know the next door neighbour, instead of a glas of wine indoors, on a Saturday evening, when it was raining. I just got a strange feeling about the whole thing, and I'm going to trust my intuition. Perhaps I can start practicing with my sword outside my door, and close that invitation... :D Perhaps my sword can both open and close doors... Hm... ;)

I also watched ESC and I'm so happy Sweden didn't win, even if I thought  KAJ did a fabulous job and was better than the winner. Lots of really great songs, though, and I thought it so nice that so many countries chose to sing in their mother tongue. :) Latvia, was a fav of mine, and also Greece, among others... Germany was really good too, and I liked Norways contribution too! I especially liked his scene outfit and thought how good that would look with my long sword... :D And, I really loved that all of Swedens neighbours (and Iceland) competed this year. :)
