The Annoying North East Wind
This is no ordinary peony, this is a Waitrose peony, one in a bunch given to me by SooB when she visited for a Blip meet on Wednesday. I have been saving it for its spot in the limelight today.
I had my breakfast ( not Weetabiix !) on the patio this morning under blue skies and just a whisper of breeze. Then it was off to meet the Merry Widows who were suitably dressed for summer with dresses and light jackets. That turned out to be a mistake as we watched the cold NE breeze get stronger bringing with it mist from the North Sea chasing off the blue skies and transforming the weather. It looked it was going to be a dull afternoon but much to my surprise the blue skies came back and once more I’m on the patio with a glass of cider and the remains of a packet of crisps. Trumpian weather, playing fast and loose with us. I will take badly to the weather returning to normal next weekend even if the gardeners and the reservoirs are happy.
As I sit writing this blog, an ice cream van has just pulled up on the path in the Meadows over the railings -so near and yet so far. If only I could make a long arm through the railings I could buy an ice cream- a Ninety Nine by choice-instead of having a hike and a half to get out of Quartermile on to Middle Meadow and round to North Meadows Path. I have the remains of a tub of ordinary ice cream in my newly defrosted freezer- maybe I should indulge now that my senses have been awakened………
