New road surface
It was a complete shock to the system stepping outside the door this morning even though the weather writing had been on the wall, so to speak. It was windy and the wind was our less than friendly North Easterly. There was no cheery sun smiling benificently on us, just a greyness with a feel factor of 9° -it was back to the old familiar. It didn’t take long for me to grow accustomed to balmy weather and now I resent a return to the norm.
I had a fairly quick outing to M&S for supplies and found there were still a lot of empty shelves because of their major hacking. I don’t know if they are yet in the clear but it certainly isn’t over till the fat lady sings , and I don’t hear a peep from her.
The window cleaners have done their rounds this morning and the gardeners have assiduously cut grass which is almost no longer there. A lot of the gardens look ominously brown. I did ask them to trim my Boston Ivy which is intent on climbing very quickly up to the flat above but they seem to have forgotten and have departed.
I have opened my holiday case and put it on the spare bed, it takes at least a fortnight for me to decide what I need to take to Orkney. Last week it was summer clothes , this week I imagine if will be warm ones. I make lists that forget it’s a case with a weight restriction I’m packing, not a trunk. Things get put in and taken out dependent on the climate of the day. Hopefully, what stays in at the end will be adequate to meet all events.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I’m busy finishing off a crochet bed cover for someone who doesn’t know she’s going to be the beneficiary and may for all I know hate it on sight. We’ll see!
My blip is of the newly road surface into the estate past the Skyscanner Building. The last part of the road to be finished seems to be the stretch at the end into the car park. Once it’s all been signed off the Council will adopt it. Seeing the decrepit state of the city’s roads, I’m not sure if that’s a good move.
