Any Way the Wind Blows...
You get this early, because I am tired.
I was awake at 7 this morning, I hit bed at 10pm last night and fell straight asleep. No reading nothing.
I had been struggling to hold my eyes open all day, and I finally gave in to it, and it was good.
I don't think Si was too over-enthusastic about going up to the allotment for 8, so he made us tea and sausages which we ate outside in the warmth.
Then it was up to the plot Si had a pile of cucumbers, melon, and tomato plants he was giving away. I had 5 more strawberries to plant. Si also had the water pump to fix.
While he fixed the water pump I did the watering. I was too tired to water last night, so i did it this morning. 2 watering cans per bed. 14 cans for my plot.
18 for Si's. I got all my steps and weight lifting in early.
Then I started weeding. After I was a bit rude to someone. I had just stopped to start weeding and I could see this woman standing looking at my Strawberries. and She picked three up and walked off with them.
I said, "hello, are you taking my strawberries?" She looked at me and Said, "No they aren't yours, Si said he was leaving some stuff up here for people to take....."
"not strawberries", I said. and She looked at me and said, "oh okay, I'll put them back".
And then I felt so bloody ashamed of myself, I changed my mind. I said "no -in fact take them all, I've probably got too many in already". And we stood and chatted and made friends, while I felt thoroughly ashamed of myself.
I went and told Si while he was at the pump.... "Ive done an awful thing" I said. "Shouted at the woman who took your strawberries eh? " Oh my god. She went straight over to Si and told hiim!!!! He just laughed. he said she shouldnt' have just lifted them. he was quite clear in his notice what he was giving away.
I spent some nice time, stuck on my arse, looking up at seagulls who were circling slowing in heat thermals and imagined myself up there. That chilled me.
When we came home, we were going to be chilled. Ha!
We started weeding and digging up Bamboo. NEVER PLANT BAMBOO in your garden. I dug up and repotting some things I planted years ago and just left to waste, but they have actually found their place in the world and have come into their own. So I split them and put them in Hanging baskets.
Then I sifted some soil, which I find incredibly relaxing, if a bit messy.
Then I potted up some cornflowers and some cosmos and then I planted some Cosmos in the front border, and then I planted some more in two pots which I emptied of dead bulb material and weeds.
And then I cut the grass, and then I strimmed it. and then Si said "i have put your stuff away. You are going in and sitting down.
You know what... He was right.
