It's not far to paradise
I could not in good conscience publish the picture i went out to take.
I wanted a lovely, cooling evening shot at the allotment. Low sun through the trees, long shadows and the hint of song birds settlin down for the night.
We went up too early, the sun was still sweltering, and by the 14th bucket, I too was sweltering and my heart rate was well above where it should have been.
I couldn't hold a conversation, much less my phone.
Onions, Squash, Potatoes, Cabbages, Cauliflowers, Strawberries, Carrots all coming on beautifully, Last years leeks have been killed by the heat - they all shot. Not a edible one between them. So much love and Sinitta went into them, and this is how they repay me.
One of the squashes is lookin a little weary, but we watered it more, and we will hope for the best.
On our way out, we heard a little rumpus in one of the plots... two crows were ripping a rabbit apart. It was quite gory- And Si did take a photo of it, but I couldn't bring myself to distress you all. There were questions to be asked.
The plot was sealed by a new fence. No entrance for Rabbits. It was laying square in the middle of a bed. Did something big kill it, and throw it in? did the crows kill it and fly with it, dropping it there? We will never know, because there has been a revolution. No CCTV Camera (this plot was near the gate, where the CCTV was), No drones. I feel tomorrow nights AGM is going to finish me.
Anyhows - I came home, sat in the shade of the garden, and looked at my lovely ship-like planter. Last year, It had succulents, leeks and Peas, and one brussel sprout.
The leeks and the brussel sprout were re-planted about 5 weeks ago - and are all about 3 times the size they were, I have high hopes for this brussel. (Si Planted 10 and has one)
This year, we have Cornflowers, Gypsophilia, Succulents, and I thnk maybe perhaps Nigella.
I'm thinking about making it a sail.
I'm still thnking about it.
