Happy Moments

Roof Window

Also known as a ‘dormer window’ this one is in Rushpool Hall in Skelton, just ten minutes away from us.

One of my camera club summer challenge themes is ‘windows’, so on the way back from B&M this afternoon we called in for a look to see if there was anything that might be worth a photo or two.

Of course there are loads of potential blips. Rushpool Hall is a luxurious and unique wedding venue. A fine example of Victorian architecture, built 1863/4 using ironstone from one of John Bell’s Skelton mines. He died in 1888 and Sir Arthur Dorman moved in. He is well known around these parts for building bridges. Actually around the world, not just here on the east coast, his company Dorman Long built the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Lambeth Bridge in London, the Tyne Bridge and others. A major force in the iron and steel industry.

There was actually a wedding taking place so I was mindful of the fact the bride and groom were walking around the grounds with their two (!) photographers. Loads of guests milling around in their finery too, it was actually quite nice to see. I’ve included a couple of other views which are popular as settings for the photos to be taken. It really is a stunning location.

Back home, had a lovely catch up call with Nicoiseannie about all sorts of day to day stuff and that’s the weekend drawing to a close.
