Female Alpine Newt in …

… our garden pond. How do they get there, what tells them there is a water source in our garden? After the many frogs (but no toads) we had in breeding in the pond in the spring, there’s plenty of tadpoles for them to eat! Apparently these were introduced to New Zealand and Britain but in NZ they are now being eradicated because they have a negative effect on other amphibian populations.

We had a “garden party” for some of our oldest friends and a couple of their children now adults, this afternoon, which was a lot of fun. Hence a very late blip!

Thanks for your love of yesterday’s baby bouquetin and I hope you have had a great weekend.
