Quod oculus meus videt

Kestrel on the Wing

I spent a very enjoyable day at the Staffordshire Owl Experience and birds of prey rescue sanctuary with Andy, Lee and our tutor, Mark, photographing various owls and raptors. I took well over 2,000 images as I tried to master the techniques to capture these birds.  While in the morning we concentrated on static shots, set up by the crew, our afternoon included birds flying onto perches as well as a goshawk devouring dinner in inimitable style.

I do like a back lit image so I suppose this female kestrel was always likely to be chosen as the main image, I've added a couple of static shots as well as extras but I have a lot of images to still go through. If you would like to try this yourself they run regular photo days, which I can thoroughly recommend.
