Sally Mair - Loving life

Aberdeenshire

Another lovely day with D&L in Aberdeenshire.
After breakfast we headed off to Crathes Castle which is always worth a visit. It made a good contrast to Dunnottar where we were yesterday. The collage shows the castle, one of the painted ceilings, the nursery and a doorway off the spiral staircase. The thumbnail is off a baby walker from the early 20th century.

The castle is beautifully laid out with lots to see. It was lived in until fairly recently.
From Crathes, L and I went to Banchory for a wander and look at the shops while Colin drove D up to Bennachie. He is trying to keep his fitness levels up for their holiday on the West coast next week. We all went to pick up D in the afternoon, stopping on the way at The Maiden standing stone. There are so many ancient stones, circles and other markers in Aberdeenshire, including Mither Tap on the top of Bennachie - an iron age hill fort.
We finished the day with a lovely meal at the Banchory Lodge where the food and service are always good . I'm enjoying a few days away before things get really hectic with church next week.
