Aliums
Saughton Rose garden.
Cycle ride to Wardie first thing, to swim in the sea. There was, unusually for that beach, a swell and a little bit of wave break at the shore. Just one other person there when I arrived, then more people as I was getting out. Air temperature very mild, sea cold but bearable. Talked to someone visiting from Brighton where she swims in the Channel. Also watched someone flying a powered surfboard (with a keel and a motor on the end of it)
By tram in the afternoon to Saughton; some of the early roses are out. Lots of greenfly there too. A fine display of aliums, and some nice potentilla bushes with early bumblebees, I think, working in them.
Back by the Water of Leith; we saw more fish, in various sizes, and two ducklings with no evidence of parent ducks. There was a 'rave' going on at Murrayfield; FLY '92. The several hundred youngsters lined up to get in were mostly not born in 1992; reviving cowboy boots, gogo boots and hotpants. Back in by the West End.
