Pretending
We left Derby early this morning and headed for home. But not the “traditional” A50/A500/M6 route back to Kendal. Instead, we headed up the M1, past Sheffield, Leeds and York until we arrived in Pickering. A strange route you might think but, wouldn’t you just know it, Mathewsons Classic Car Auctions were open for viewing the lots prior to this week’s sale. You’d almost think I knew that, and planned to call in all along…
A pleasant hour spent browsing the lots. Mrs C fancied a BMW Z3, but I managed to talk her out of it, pointing out we already have a convertible BMW. And though it was cold and cloudy driving to Pickering, it was warm and sunny by the time we left. So it was roof down and home via some lovely A roads in the Yorkshire Dales. We had a pit stop in Thirsk for a bit of lunch and to make some purchases from the pie shop we discovered on our last visit there.
A very pleasant drive home listening to Eric Clapton live at RAH in 1991. Strangely, not only were a lot of the tracks back then part of last nights concert, but so were some of the band! Just as we got home and turned on to the drive it started raining, so it was quickly up with the roof before we got wet. As it happened, it was only a short shower which did nothing to help the parched garden. Still, it was a taste of what is forecast for the weekend.
Today’s blip title is another Clapton number and one I have used advisedly. Take a closer look at the picture. There’s something amiss. Can you spot what it is…
