Backblip


We explored the local town and noticed many unfamiliar flowers growing on the steep cliffs below the castle at Rethymno fortress.  Several shrubs had attractive flowers which I learnt are Capers (Capparis spinosa), sometimes known as Flinders rose. The tiny flower buds are pickled and used as capers to garnish or season Mediterranean cuisine.
