Dolly's Day

EARTH, WIND AND FIRE

The Mono Monday theme is 'Earth, Wind, or Fire.' I decided to try all three.  A globe, three windmills from my collection of Delft pottery ... and a fire. ( the fire is on but the flames  don't really show up. ) Thanks to DonMac21 for hosting.

Lily had a vets appointment this afternoon -  for her yearly check up and booster jab.  In the past the best way to get her into the cat basket has been to lure her into the bathroom, shut the door before she darts out, put her in the shower cubicle, shut the shower door, get the cat basket, get her out of shower and try to get her into the basket.  It usually takes a few attempts and cancelled appointment to actually get her to the vets every year. Today she was fast asleep on the bedroom windowsill and wasn't about to come anywhere near the bathroom.  So I decided just to go for it.  I got the cat basket and put it on the bed.... Lily was behind the curtain so she didn't see it. (If she had then that would have been it - she would have hidden away and I wouldn't have found her) . Then I quickly grabbed her before she knew what was happening and shoved her into the basket.  Using one hand to stop her escaping  I zipped up the carrier with my other hand.  And I did it.  Whew.  I was so pleased that I was actually going to get her to the vets at the first attempt.

She made a terrible racket all the way there and back.  She was very angry.  However - as usual - she was as good as gold when the vet was examining her and when she had the injection.  Vet said she was in good health.  Especially as she's 13 years old.

When we got back home Lily ate a whole pouch of cat food and went to sleep for a few hours.

I did a load of washing, watched TV for a bit and then did some ironing.

Weather was dull and chilly early in the day but later the sun came out and it got quite warm for a while.
