Lengthy commute to work

When it works, it works extremely well. From the spring flowers of the Tain garden, via two trains into and out of Inverness station, to a short walk up to the RSE at the other hand (where I spent the afternoon). The only anxiety surrounded the possible cancellation of the 6.29 train from Tain. This can only be known until after it has left Ardgay as the first train does not come from far upstream.

It was grey and cold in Edinburgh and felt underdressed, to be honest. I was also too exhausted to go up to a reception at the Signet Library. Not even the lure of my favourite drink (free wine) was enough. I went home, cobbled some food together, and took an early night.
