Roger Radish .

Does anyone remember the Garden Gang books written by a 9 year old girl whose name I seem to recall was Jayne Fisher ?My children really loved those books .
However , the radishes in the photo survived the scorching heat which pretty much wrecked our back garden. We have lost most of the flowering plants and also the shrubs . The pen did better as it is shaded by the trees and so doesn’t get as much sun as it used too or as we would like . However , it’s shady nature means that most of the plants were ok in our absence despite the scorching weather . The radishes are moist, crispy and delicious. I learnt today that the leaves are edible too so they were sautéd and eaten . Apparently all the parts of the Brussel sprouts plant are also edible so although they are now in flower they can still be eaten . The flowers , which I munched on earlier were sweetly flavoured.
Much of the day has been spent outside either in the garden or walking Bramble in the park except forban hour inside which was spent on a Teams meeting which was for the finance committee of the nursery school that we are both governors for .
I am grateful everyday that I am generally free to be out of doors whenever I want .
