Surprise

I went out this morning to open our high tech umbrella which has been closed all winter and as I began to crank it open there was a great flurry of activity and ...more bird drama...several small birds flew out .  I looked up and saw the nest at the top of the inside of the umbrella.  A pretty clever place to build a nest but not exactly the most convenient for using the table underneath where I had hoped to serve dinner. I think the birds were fledgelings and pretty able to survive on their own but I've left the unbrella half furled  for opening it all the way would crush the nest. 

This is a late post because our old friends from backpacking days are here for a visit and we have spent a most enjoyable evening reliving many past adventures together. I will catch up with everyone here tomorrow.
