Busy early morning bee! 6:45 am.
We had a light sprinkling of rain yesterday evening, but it wasn’t enough to give the dry, what passes for our lawn, and flower borders a drenching drink.
This morning is cloudy, but mild, at 13C
I wandered up the garden in my dressing gown having come downstairs to make a mug of tea, and watched this bee who was busy in the Honey Garlic.
It’s the kind of morning when it feels as if it might rain, but not for certain!
I brought the trail camera back indoors to see if there had been any activity last night but there wasn’t much, and no sign of the hedgehog. I need to resite it again.
Once back in the kitchen I saw something on the floor and it turned out to be a large beetle. It must have come in on my dressing-gown!
(Photo in extra,)
I slid a piece of paper underneath it in order to take it back outside, which I did after I took the picture.
Thanks to technology, my phone automatically posts them on my iPad too.
I can then see a much larger image and was fascinated by all the details on the beetle’s legs.
It has the wonderful name of Melolontha Melolontha! However did they classify them! In common parlance a Cockchafer, Maybug, or Doodlebug.
They are pests however, but I couldn’t bring myself to kill it,
I will probably go and find it in a bit and put it into the Garden waste bin, which will, eventually, be taken away when the Bin men’s strike is resolved!
This afternoon I am catching up with the Pilates group for a coffee after their class. Looking forward to that and now I can drive myself there.
On a recovery note, it will be 11 weeks on Friday since my last hip operation.
By comparison to my last one in November, it has more or less followed the same pattern, being down to one crutch by weeks 2 to 3.
Only this time I had the infection which slowed things down a bit.
Everyone’s journey is different, and I have two hips which are in the process of healing!
A fact I sometimes forget!
After the episode of the thigh muscle going into spasm last week, I have just kept on using my one crutch, especially on longer walks.
In the house I don’t really need it now. Outdoors it better to be safe.
I have my 3rd Physio hip class tomorrow, having had to cancel it last week. Then my 4th one will be the last one.
I love Blip for lots of reasons but it is good as a daily journal of what’s happening, however mundane, in my life.
And it helps me to see how far I have already come since last November.
My breakfast and coffee have now been consumed so I am going out into the garden to see if I can recover the bug!
