Rhododendrons

Today's the day ....................... for a final flourish

These two rhododendrons - a white one and a deep pink one - are the last ones to flower in the garden.  They leave it right to the end of the season, so that they can have all the attention they think they deserve.

They must have been planted a long time ago to get to the size they are - and because of where they are in the garden, they were probably planted by an occupier of the house who was an actual gardener by trade.  There are quite a few horticultural gems that we think he was responsible for introducing into the garden.

In another week or so, we'll be moving into summer proper - hopefully with all the new delights that it will have to offer ...................
