Dùn Coillich

Another outing today - this time to Dùn Coillich with the u3a. Dùn Coillich is a community owned piece of land and it was really interesting to hear from the manager how is has been grown and developed since it was acquired, just under 10 years ago. Trees have been planted and our now self-seeding and the number of birds, animals and other wildlife has grown considerably.

We only had time for a short walk including a visit to a pond. At first it looked like there was no wildlife to see but soon were spotting damsel flies, dragonflies, body newts, a frog swimming underwater and a brown tree. Really interesting.

T and I plan to go back for a longer walk around.

We stopped for coffee and cake at the Watermill in Aberfeldy on the way back.

While we were away there was a small "wildfire" on a heather bank at the foot of the road we live on. Fortunately the fire brigade came quickly and it was soon put out.  However it does bring home the need to be careful.
