St. John's, Newfoundland

This afternoon, we docked here in St. John's in a brisk, chilly wind and low hanging fog.  The weather did cooperate a bit just when we disembarked to take a tour of the city and surrounding area, so we were lucky.

I love all the colourful houses here -- I'm sure they are especially cheery during the long, cold winters!  Pictures in the collage, from left to right, top to bottom:  Houses lining the harbour, sign posts atop Signal Hill, a quaint scene at Quidi Vidi, Cabot Tower on Signal Hill, where in 1920 one of the first wireless transatlantic transmissions of the human voice was made by Guglielmo Marconi, our ship as seen from the top of Signal Hill, and a scenic (minus the graffiti ...) lighthouse below Signal Hill.
