Wide and Derelict
Thank goodness for the weekly challenges! I initially snapped this image thinking of the Derelict Week challenge and then realized that it fits the theme of “architecture” for the Wide Wednesday challenge too. I took it early this morning as I was dropping off a mouse entrapped. Which is another whole story. This little shack sits behind an abandoned burger place that’s slowly going to seed. The shack is hidden from the main road so easy to miss. It’s interesting though, especially with the cracked, weedy pavement in the foreground.
And about the mouse… several years ago we started finding random mice in our basement and because neither of us is into killing things, we trap/release. We always just took them into the woods behind our house and released them there but I recently suspected that at least one mouse was returning, so I started taking them to a spot about smile from here. The abandoned building provides shelter and there is plenty of seedy vegetation to provide food. Yes, I’m that person.
Had a nice FT chat with my parents this morning. Dad’s broken foot is slowly mending but he’s still in the dreaded boot.
And I made an appointment to start seeing a therapist. Big step and one that’s overdo as I’m finding life quite overwhelming right now. I will benefit from talking to someone and also to adjusting my antidepressant meds. I’ve lived with depression for over 20 years and have mostly been fine, but I’m just very off-kilter right now and so it’s time to be proactive. First appointment in about 2 weeks.
Rainy day, perfect for cuddling with Jax.
Xoxo
