Feed Them...

and they will come!

What a day bird-wise. The hummingbird feeder I ordered did arrive as scheduled and I hung it up outside where I could see it from the kitchen window.  Well... no hummingbird...but a beautiful Baltimore Oriole! How did he know it was there? Where did he come from. Unfortunately, he didn't stay long enough for a photo.

It was a really cool day with very brisk chilly winds again. I didn't go out much but stewed some more rhubarb, chatted on the phone with my brother who is up north at his cottage now, and finished my book The Bee Sting, and started into my next book, Wild, Dark Shore, by the Australian author Charlotte McConaghy. (extra)

I did venture out onto the deck late in the day for my usual hour or so watching the birds and critters before dinner, and that's when I spied this cute little fellow - a Tennessee Warbler - hiding from the wind in the tangle of my Virginia Creeper! What a treat! I have never seen one here in my yard before!

I just had to include yet another cardinal photo as an extra; I could not resist. This time he was on the fence in the biting, cold wind all puffed up into a fuzzy ball.
