A butterfly or a moth?
The funeral of my father-in-law took place today, but I was unable to attend. I was given a video link to the service but it didn't work. Instead I wrote this.
“I remember papering the front room in Glasgow under Tom’s tutelage. I’d never hung wallpaper before and he was a good teacher. Me being me, I had music going the whole time and was often singing along to it. Tom said he was amazed that I knew the words to all these songs. It was a nice thing to say. We worked well together and got the job done. In the evening we went to a Beefeater type place in Bearsden for a bite. Your grandad of course had to quiz the young waitress about her ambitions in life. It was funny seeing her slight disquiet. It didn’t stop him though.”
