Not good weather for ducks

I have never seen the River Eden in Appleby so low. There are several places where it would be possible to walk across. Ducks are finding it hard to find enough water to swim in. 

In the corner you can see a few orange jackets. They appear to be erecting some sort of ramp, perhaps for horses. It's that time of year!! If we don't get a lot of rain soon, there will not be enough water for the horse-washing stunt. However, if it does remain as it is, at least they won't be able to drown any horses.
