Canal

I think the Easter egg hunt around the garden is more for Dad’s enjoyment than for the grandchildren. A is still quite competitive, but I think O can take it or leave it. The egg swapping later in the morning revealed how much chocolate we had acquired between us all.

After lunch, we drove to Ellesmere, to the mere at Colemere Country Park for a walk around the water. As we were walking around, we came across the Llangollen Canal and so walked by the water for a while. There were a few barges on the water. It was probably the perfect day for a slow float along the water.

Afterwards, we stopped at the Dickin Arms for a drink, although I didn’t feel like having anything, so I reserved the outside table, as the inside was full of diners enjoying Easter Sunday lunch. The weather was a little warmer than at Attingham, and it was pleasant to sit outside.

A lamb was slow-cooking back at Mum’s house. Somehow, the lid had lifted off, and we were worried it wouldn’t have cooked adequately, but all was well. J did all the cooking, including the potatoes and vegetables, which resulted in a delicious dinner. I wouldn’t have thought to put lamb in the slow cooker (we usually use the oven on low). It came out very well.

More dominoes this evening.
