Haughmond Abbey

We had breakfast at Mum and Dad’s club this morning. A full English breakfast with lots of toast. It was lovely. Then we walked into Shrewsbury, where I managed to find shops selling Easter eggs to make up for the terrible selection at Asda the day before. Tesco and Sainsbury’s had the things I was looking for. Additionally, we visited Hotel Chocolat and purchased some extra chocolates. I’ve never been in a branch that included a coffee shop (or, more accurately, a hot chocolate shop) inside.

Later in the afternoon, J took the kids to the climbing centre while PY and I watched from a balcony with a coffee. It’s pretty impressive how fearless all the young children are when they’re climbing the walls and other obstacles.

After they had finished, we drove out to Haughmond Abbey to allow everybody to run off any extra energy they had. I didn’t have very much. I was last here in 2021. On this visit, the English Heritage kiosk was staffed and open, but I didn’t spend too long looking at the exhibition. The place is almost 900 years old, which might explain the lack of a roof.

Back home for a steak dinner.
