Two days of sunshine left. I took the bags of garden greenery to the recycling site ahead of the rain, went home and made a packed lunch.
I wanted to give the car a longer and faster drive. It was a choice between Morecambe prom and Dalemain near Penrith. Very different but both have lots of benches to sit on :)
Dalemain won. When I got near the river I could see a heron. Close enough for a good photo but I foolishly decided to take two more steps and it flew. I sat on the bench there for a long time. It didn’t return but I did spot birds that seemed to be going into holes on the far river bank. Wish I’d taken the binoculars. I got a more distant photo of the heron later. It’s in the second extra along with the one butterfly I saw and some flowers that were growing in unusual places.
The Himalayan poppies won for the main photo because I think I’ve only done one blip of them before. A close second (first extra) is a garden visitor chatting to a gardener.
