Coasting along

We left our lovely quiet campsite quite early and headed for Torquay. This was a bit of a sentimental visit for us as we had happy memories from a very brief visit  nearly 20 years ago when we came here from Lancashire (where we lived at the time) to collect our first brand new camper van, a VW converted by a small company that we had come across at one of the shows. They did an excellent job and we had many happy holidays in “Tricia”. Sadly, in our opinion, Torquay has deteriorated somewhat over the years. The best parts were along the prom and there was lots of money on the water, judging from the size of some of the fancy boats in the marina. After a lovely breakfast at one of the eateries by the marina, we retreated to the motorhome and set course for Sidmouth, a pleasant regency resort (main) with quite a number of thatched cottages and houses in the surrounding area. The extra shows quite a grand thatched house which must have been quite a complicated job to complete with all the different angles of roof.
