Quod oculus meus videt

Constant Buzzing

A busy day starting with a swim where I was pushing myself because of another, faster swimmer in the same lane. It meant I averaged about a second a length quicker over the mile, which I was quite chuffed about.

After I got home I finished the lawn edging while the weather was overcast. A light lunch then a chat with one of our Blipfoto volunteers who supports the help desk.

Finally a break in the afternoon and I sat on the patio, which is backed by a large pyracantha hedge currently resplendent with white flowers. A constant buzzing was coming from the insects collecting pollen so I tried to capture an image of one of them in action. I took over a hundred images but because of the relatively narrow depth of field only a few were worthy of posting. This was probably the best.

According to a Google image search this is either a honey bee, or an Italian bee, or even an Italian honey bee! Who knows, I certainly don't. I always thought honey bees were fatter with more distinct yellow and black stripes on the abdomen.
