Sitka …
When we awoke this morning we were in Sitka! How do they do that!?!
As a result of an early morning docking we had our breakfast on the Lido deck before disembarking to enjoy touring Sitka. The weather was overcast skies with some occasional rain. But we tried to make the most of the short time here.
After disembarking we took the shuttle into Sitka as the dock is several miles away from town. Once we arrived in Sitka proper we walked (and walked) to Sitka National Park. Sitka is known for the many totem poles that are erected in this park and elsewhere. We had a lovely walk … even though very wet at times.
Since we are here in Sitka until later in the afternoon we had lunch at a local restaurant. The food was good but very expensive!
After lunch we toured the Russian Bishop House before returning to the shuttle to be driven back to the ship. We were quite wet and tired by this point.
The ship left port around 4:00 pm and we were underway once again. This gave us plenty of time to get ready for dinner in the main dining room. And once again the food did not disappoint.
Rainy Ketchikan tomorrow …
