Oceanside …

… Pier.

No visit to California would be complete without a visit to the Oceanside Pier … one of my all-time favorite places!  So after breakfast we climbed into the rental car and drove to Oceanside.  Thankfully my mom only lives about 30 minutes away … and it’s an easy drive.

Once we arrived and found parking we walked out on the pier.  There were several surfers in the ocean and we even saw a seal!  Something we’ve never seen here before!  All the shots for the pier can be seen in the Extra collage. 

About a year ago (April 25, 2024) there was a fire at the end of this pier.  The one shot in the collage shows the end of the pier where that happened.  There used to be a restaurant here that burned down.  Now all the birds have taken over the spot!

After enjoying our time on the pier we returned to mom’s house for lunch and relaxation.  And then later in the day we went to another favorite park in her area … the Woodland Park & Pool.  There are always some lovely birds here … and today was no exception.   My main shot is a Black-crowned Night Heron enjoying the sunshine.  We also saw lots of different ducks and lots of turtles.

We had lovely day … it was so nice spending time with my mom.  She recently had her 88th birthday so we treated her to dinner out this evening. 

Back to reality tomorrow … which you’ve probably already read about as I posted that before these vacation pictures!
