Auschwitz & Birkenau

Today was our planned somber visit to the Auschwitz Museum & Birkenau Camp.

A very early 06.45 pick up, we joined 6 other like minded folk, together with our driver Lucas, we drove the 1.5 hrs to Osweicim.

It was very busy, so many jewish people, wearing their flags with pride, a very moving sight.

The hush & emptiness was very loud if you get my meaning……. walking into the “gas chamber” where so many innocent people lost their lives is something I’ll never forget :-(

My blip shows just some of the personal possessions striped from the prisoners when they arrived for what they thought was a chance of a new life working in factories! Literally thousands upon thousands of shoes!!!

The semi demolished building is what was left of Crematorium 2 in Birkenau, after the soldiers had tried to destroy & hide what had been happening there
