Lisa

Before the gardener arrived at my mother’s house today, to mow the grass, I took this picture of my mother’s cat Lisa. Her name is one of the very few that my mother can still remember, because Lisa is (at least) 20 years old, and has been with my mother for 19 years. She was a rescue cat, and the shelter had published her and her sister’s photo in the local newspaper. At that time, the newspaper had a regular slot for animals looking for homes.

My mother fell in love with Lisa‘s picture and went to get her and her sister Mona. Mona was sadly killed by a speeding car (or rather its idiot driver) at the age of six, but Lisa stayed. She still follows my mother like a dog. Both ladies don’t go far anymore, but their love is still strong.
