Skomer

What a fantastic day we’ve had on Skomer.
When we came before it was in July . The pufflings had all hatched and the adults were flying in with beaks full of fish all the time. In May there are fewer chicks and the adults are out at sea a lot of the time feeding themselves.
The puffins which are bringing in sand eels have very young newly hatched chicks so the sand eels they are catching are quite small to suit their babies’ little throats! As they grow the adults feed them on bigger fish.
There are so many more beautiful colourful flowers in May, and the weather was perfect.
We are on a campsite with no mains electricity and it is proving difficult to recharge our various devices, not to mention our electric bikes!
We cycled to the Griffin in Dale this evening as recommended by our tutor Drew Buckley. We had a fair amount of fish ourselves, not sand eels luckily!
