Triffids
My neighbour is having some landscaping done, and is getting rid of a load of acanthus. Now it is definitely not the right time of year to be transplanting acanthus, let alone huge ones actually in flower, dug up without a big rootball…
But regardless I figured free plants were worth a shot, so I trotted off round there this morning with a bucket. And took a few small bits and went back with a more appropriately sized container!
I’ve chopped the flower spikes off, and left them in water in the shade. Tomorrow it is supposed to be cooler (but of a scorcher today) so I will chop them back and plant them behind the pond where there is enough shade to hopefully let them get their roots down a bit.
Aside from all that, some shopping when I obviously met everyone I knew in the DIY store on a day when I’d been wrestling triffids in the sun and not brushed my hair or troubled the make up bag. Also some furniture moving; turns out my office bookshelves has some kind of insect issue, so had to be dragged away from all other wood items.
Then I repainted a small bookshelves I made for CarbBoy when he was little and, as though he sensed it, the boy himself called for a long chat.
