(144) I Have The Power!
I traded in my Specialized Levo SL for a full power Levo 4 today. The SL was a great bike but, ultimately, didn't quite have the 'oomph' I was hoping for. This machine is in a different (but legal) league with a huge battery capacity, tons of torque, and peak power output to make the toughest climbs challenging instead of impossible, for me. I resisted the temptation to go out for a test ride after picking the bike up and instead spent the best part of four hours applying 'Ride Wrap' protective film to the frame and forks. I also had to go back to the bike shop to borrow a specific tool to remove the chainring, which, of course, is a different fitting to all my other bikes. I also had a bit of a fight with the right crank which was not for coming off in a hurry. I'm a bit hesitant about applying too much brute force to bikes nowadays as, despite the greater strength of modern materials, I'm pretty sure that carbon fibre and and fancy alloys aren't necessary as resilient as 'good old-fashioned steel?' The days when my bike toolkit included a heavy ball peen hammer for bashing crank cotter pins are long gone! Anyway, the bike is now ready for a first ride tomorrow.
