(145) Great Expectations

As was forecast, the weather today was a mix of sunshine and heavy showers, all accompanied by a strong westerly wind. Not ideal for a test ride on the new bike but, what the heck, let's get out there! I'll skip the hyperbole and jump to the bit where I say that the bike is fantastic and exceeds my expectations in every way. Some people/cyclists say that e-bikes are 'cheating' but that completely misses the point. For me, the e-bike is an enabler, something that allows me to wind back the clock by a couple of decades and ride, and enjoy, favourite trails that would otherwise be a real hard slog without a bit of assistance. To put things in context, today's bike ride burned 500 Kcal in an hour on the bike, which is 500 more than I'd have expended by sitting on the sofa.
